THE PHOTOGRAPHIC ALBUM OF MONTSERRAT ROCA I BALT\u00c0<\/h3>\n

Xavier de la Cruz will present the exhibition \u201cTHE CHILDREN OF THE REPUBLIC AT THE IGNASI IGL\u00c9SIAS SCHOOL (1931-1939)\u201d, which he carried out as a result of documentary research in order to produce the book Ignasi Igl\u00e9sias (1871- 1928). The validity of a forgotten myth<\/em>, the historian Manel Mart\u00edn Pascual and the photographer Xavier de la Cruz i Sala discovered in the collection Ignasi Igl\u00e9sias, deposited in the Historical Archive of the City of Barcelona by Emiliana Vinyes i Miquel, widow of the playwright, a photo album.<\/p>\n

This album was a gift from Montserrat Roca i Balt\u00e0, then director of the Ignasi Igl\u00e9sias Municipal School, to the writer’s widow. Dated 1935, but with previous images, it contains a set of photographs of the school and the farmhouse that houses it. However, the most interesting images are the last ones, as they are made by someone experienced in professional photography and show us the daily life of children during their stay at school: playing basketball, caring and working in the garden, doing outdoor classes \u2014outdoors\u2014, doing gymnastics, playing …<\/p>\n
