A graduate in Philosophy and a doctorate in History, Gar\u00f3fano explored the graphic history of the city through various media, from pre-imagery to photography, including stereoscopy and postcards. Therefore, throughout his life, Gar\u00f3fano compiled and studied an enormous collection of images that document the historical, social and cultural evolution of the city of C\u00e1diz and its surroundings. Images that he disseminated in his publications, sharing his findings with the public.<\/p>\n<p>The Rafael Gar\u00f3fano Collection includes diverse visual materials that span the 19th and 20th centuries, with photographs from all periods and various techniques, such as daguerreotypes, ferrotypes, albumens, salted paper, glass negatives, magic lantern plates and stereoscopies, in addition to postcards, engravings and printing plates.
