Directorio Clifford<\/h1>\n

El portal Clifford es un directorio de las personas que ejercieron el oficio o la profesi\u00f3n de fot\u00f3grafo en los territorios de Espa\u00f1a entre los a\u00f1os 1839 y 1900. Directorio que se puede consultar libremente en l\u00ednea en la web de Fotoconnexi\u00f3.<\/p>\n

El objetivo de Fotoconnexi\u00f3 es poner al alcance y hacer conocer los datos b\u00e1sicos de todos estos fot\u00f3grafos: el nombre completo, el lugar y las fechas de nacimiento y muerte, los nombres comerciales y \/ o seud\u00f3nimos que utilizaron, las ciudades donde abrieron galer\u00eda, taller, estudio o tienda o, simplemente, donde ejercieron la actividad fotogr\u00e1fica y el periodo que fueron activos.
El n\u00famero de fot\u00f3grafos incluidos en el directorio Clifford no tiene ning\u00fan l\u00edmite, y en estos momentos est\u00e1 en torno a los 4.500 registros.<\/p>\n

El directorio Clifford nace por la necesidad de tener un panorama claro de la localizaci\u00f3n y del movimiento de los fot\u00f3grafos en el territorio, que a lo largo del siglo XIX formaba parte de una amplia regi\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica que configuraba el Estado espa\u00f1ol. A finales de siglo los fot\u00f3grafos se establecieron de forma m\u00e1s fija para ejercer la profesi\u00f3n y paralelamente creci\u00f3 la afici\u00f3n por la fotograf\u00eda.
Clifford tambi\u00e9n tiene la voluntad de incluir aquellas otras personas que trabajaban con estos fot\u00f3grafos a su estudio: retocadores, pintores de fotograf\u00edas, iluminadores, miniaturistas, siempre y cuando su trabajo se hiciera con el papel fotogr\u00e1fico como soporte. Hemos contemplado una sola excepci\u00f3n, la inclusi\u00f3n de aquellos pioneros que intervinieron directamente en la ejecuci\u00f3n de los primeros daguerrotipos realizados en Barcelona y en Madrid en 1839, y la de los traductores de las primeras ediciones del manual de Daguerre, aunque en algunos casos no tengamos constancia de que hubieran hecho materialmente ninguna fotograf\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Fotoconnexi\u00f3 inici\u00f3 el proyecto del directorio Clifford el a\u00f1o 2012, pero su camino ya hab\u00eda comenzado en 2006. Su gestor, Jep Mart\u00ed Baiget, historiador de la fotograf\u00eda y socio fundador de Fotoconnexi\u00f3, ha dedicado diez a\u00f1os de b\u00fasqueda personal a recoger y cruzar los datos que configuran la actual Clifford. Todos los datos incluidos en el directorio est\u00e1n documentadas en fuentes archiv\u00edsticas, bibliogr\u00e1ficas, hemerogr\u00e1ficas o fotogr\u00e1ficas. Sin embargo, la colaboraci\u00f3n de los estudiosos de la fotograf\u00eda es imprescindible y se necesitan sus aportaciones para corregir errores, ampliar informaci\u00f3n y hacer crecer el directorio. Por este motivo, el portal web dispone de un espacio para recibir nuevos datos bien documentadas y referenciadas por correo electr\u00f3nico.<\/p>\n

Fotoconnexi\u00f3 hizo la presentaci\u00f3n del directorio Clifford en el Museo Mar\u00edtimo de Barcelona el 10 de noviembre de 2016, con la intenci\u00f3n de abrirlo a la consulta p\u00fablica a historiadores, coleccionistas, fot\u00f3grafos, archiveros, conservadores, restauradores ya todo el p\u00fablico en general.<\/p>\n

Charles Clifford (Gales, ca 1820 – Madrid, 1863) es, sin lugar a dudas, una figura esencial para la historia de la fotograf\u00eda en Espa\u00f1a. La sola menci\u00f3n de su nombre en el \u00e1mbito de la fotograf\u00eda es sin\u00f3nimo de pionero y de calidad fotogr\u00e1fica incomparable. Denominar este directorio con su nombre es una peque\u00f1a aportaci\u00f3n a su divulgaci\u00f3n, pero sobre todo representa para el directorio de fot\u00f3grafos una autoexigencia de situarse a la altura de lo que el nombre Clifford implica.<\/p>\n
