It will be given by Rosina Herrera, paper conservator, photography and art historian and photoconnectada, responsible for the Salvem les Fotos project of the University of Valencia on the occasion of the floods and consequences of the DANA catastrophe.

A few days after the DANA that hit Valencia on October 29, 2024, the Salvem les fotos project was born, an initiative aimed at rescuing and safeguarding family photographs affected by the floods.

In this conference, Rosina Herrera will present the methods and action and response plans carried out in the campaign laboratories installed in the most affected areas. The protocol applied to store, inventory, dry, wash, flatten, stabilize and digitize photographic works will be explained, as well as the guidelines for action in case of emergency: what to do —and what to avoid— in situations of this type.

The content is aimed at restorers, photographers, archivists, librarians, historians, collection custodians and all those interested in acquiring tools to protect and recover photographic materials in critical contexts.
