Photography presented itself from very early on as a traveling companion of the traditional arts performing a model-making task for artists, where many photographers found a wide field of work. The plastic artists could come to group together authentic photographic collections that they used as a model or inspiration in their works, despite the fact that few of these collections have survived whole to this day.

Josep Lluís Pellicer, draftsman and painter, worked often using the photographs he kept for various themes and motifs, accumulating more than a thousand images that today constitute a good example of photographic models and which have ended up being preserved in the Photo Archive of Barcelona.

The careful review of this set has allowed us to find photographic gems and make an approach to a photographic typology, that of the natural model, which has not been studied much.
