Carmen Rodríguez Pedret will explain how trips and excursions have been an essential part in the training of architecture students. This was made very clear by Elies Rogent, the first director of the Barcelona School of Architecture, when in 1884 he organized the first academic outing in Poblet and which resulted in a monograph on the monastery.

At the same time, future architects discovered photography as an indispensable tool for heritage registration and for the analysis that accompanied the “in situ” drawing of buildings.
The photographic collections of the ETSAB and the Gaudí Chair bring us closer to this initial time, when photography transformed the learning of architecture and, beyond that, the look on landscapes and people that the camera found in the along his way.
